Sugar Maple, Acer Saccharum is a species that is widely found throughout New England.  It is one of the most dense and therefore hardest species, and of course, it's sap is used to produce maple syrup.  This piece features an American Black Walnut stripe.  The Walnuts from the Black Walnut tree are shelled commercially in the United States and are used as an ingredient in a wide variety of baked goods, especially during the holidays!
