Exquisite Handmade Furniture

In an age where speed is prized over quality and character, where age-old artistic traditions have been compromised by mass automation, ShackletonThomas has remained true to its roots.  The company is one of the few remaining of its size in the United States that still manufactures each piece, one by one, using extensive handwork. Each piece is made using traditional processes by one master craftsperson from beginning to end.  Pieces are thoughtfully designed to highlight the beauty of hand craftsmanship.  Made from natural materials of the highest quality, furniture from the workshops of ShackletonThomas is made to be treasured for generations. Each piece is signed and dated by the maker.

About the ArtisanShackletonThomas

Charles Shackleton is a renowned furniture maker and designer who was born and grew up in Dublin, Ireland. Shackleton was trained in hand crafts at the West Surrey School of Art and Design in Surrey, England. He began his career designing furniture for Simon Pearce, with whom he originally moved to the United States. He is married to renowned master potter Miranda Thomas. The two artists share a passion for beautiful, useful objects that have life and soul. Charles brings to his work a love for the natural world, given to him by his father, David Shackleton, one of Ireland’s most noteable gardeners. He is also a relative of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton.
